Dentist & Melting Pot

We're slowly coming around to the fact that Jillian has high standards. I wonder if this kid came with some kind of trust fund we don't know about?!

The other day we all had a check up at the dentist. Things went well, and that evening we said to Jilli: "Since our whole family did such a good job at the dentist, I think we should go out for a special dinner! Where do you want to go, Jillian?"

Insert a typical kid answer here. Right? Wrong.

Jillian: "Oh, great! We should go to Melting Pot."

Of course we will, sweet girl.

So, who would argue with such an awesome suggestion because, to be honest, Ryan and I would rather overstuff ourselves with cheese/meat/chocolate than chicken nuggets anyway. HAHA!

So, here we are:

And, while you might not think Melting Pot is a great place to bring a three year old and a one year old, it's actually perfect! Lots of selections, everything is finger food sized, and they will bring you more of any 'dippers' you would like so that means unlimited bread, veggies, fruit... it's awesome (as long as you start your dinner by 5pm!) haha!

Sass. A. Frass.

The other day, I decided I would like to make dresses for the girls for the upcoming fall season. Wouldn't simple little matching dresses be oh-so-cute?

So, after taking the girls swimming at the pool, they both went down for a nice long nap and I whipped out my sewing machine and created this:

Not too bad if I say so myself! I was SO excited to show Jillian- I just knew she would love her "pumpkin princess dress" I had made for her.

Here's the conversation:

Me: "Guess what Jilli- I made you something"
Jillian: "Ooooo Mommy! What?"
Me: "It's a............ pumpkin princess dress!" (showing her with dramatic excitement)
Jillian: "Oh. (totally unimpressed) Is that all?"
Me: "What?! This is super special Jillian! Mommy made this for you with her sewing machine. Remember? This is the fabric we picked out together the other day?"
Jillian: "Yeah. I remember."
Me: "Well, aren't you excited about it?"
Jillian: "Actually, not really. I think I like it better when other people make dresses for me. Not Mommy."

She's SOooo sweet.

Fast forward a couple of days and I'm sitting here next to Jillian with my laptop typing up this post while she eats her breakfast (in fact, right now she's sitting in my lap reading all the "Jillian's" that I type.)

Anyway- here's what happens now:

Jillian: "Oooo Mommy- those are pictures of my BEAUTIFUL pumpkin dress you made just for me!"
Me: "That's right baby."
Jillian: "Do you know what? I so love that dress now. Did you know that?"
Me: "Well that's nice to hear Jilli, I didn't know that."
Jillian: "Yeah. I do. That makes you feel so glad."

Goodness gracious. This kid.

I was telling my sister I was going to write a whole post about all the sassy things Jillian is saying, but I think I'll save the rest of the list until later.

As Jillian put it- "You type too many Jillian's"

Time to clean up breakfast!
