Happy Thanksgiving!

Would you believe that I did not take one photo yesterday?  Not one picture of our beautiful table, our huge buffet of food, our flower arrangements/candles, the turkey... nothing!

Oh well.  As much as I would love to share that all with you, and have it documented for myself, I'm going to enjoy the fact that I was too busy hosting, cooking and visiting with everyone to take out the camera.  But, it was a gorgeous, wonderful, picture perfect Thanksgiving!

Hope yours was too!

Time to get off the computer, and haul out our Christmas tree!

Nancy

P.S.- Here are photos I took this morning of our flower arrangements...  Last year I saw something about floating cranberries in the water for Christmas, so I could not help but do that for Thanksgiving too.  This year, good 'ol Martha suggested using pumpkins as vases, and those made the perfect centerpiece on our table... I love new ideas!

Our Pre-Thanksgiving Travels...

I want to start this post by saying that if you live in Arizona, and this is the first you are hearing about our trip- I'M SORRY!!!  Truly.  Honestly, I had such a hard time planning (aka- NOT planning) this trip down to the minute.  As a result, I was able to relax a little more, but missed out on seeing some of my favorite people.  All I can say is that next time, you're in the plans for sure!

That being said- Here's a shot of Jillian as we were packing for the trip...  I'm ready Mom!
And, here's a disclaimer before this group of photos...  Our stop to visit with my parents in Dewey was first in the week, and I was still really shutter happy.  So, my Mom and Dad are well represented in the next few shots, where the rest of the wonderful people we visited with did not fare so well.  Let's just say this trip was all about soaking in the memories rather than spending my time documenting them.  I'm trying to take some advice from Ryan- "take a mental picture and just enjoy the moment."  I did.

My Dad and Jillian feeding the birds.  She LOVED this!

Jillian's exhaustion might be explained by the fact that she spent a weeks worth of naps & nights in this pack and play.  For the most part she did great, but by the end of the trip I could hear the plea for her own crib in her fussing...

Collecting rocks and making piles all over Ryan's parents yards.  Over, and over and over.  Because that is what you do with desert landscaping!  Jillian had a blast with this game.
Ryan's brother Travis, Dad Jay, Mom Canice, and Ryan.  And sweet Jillian of course.

Aside from what's pictured, we had a wonderful time visiting with friends, and on Sunday, Canice cooked up a pre-Thanksgiving dinner that gave me some great ideas for my own gathering coming up Thursday.  :)  Everything was wonderful!  Great food, company and conversation.  It was a fantastic gathering and the perfect send-off to our great week in sunny AZ!

QUICK grits???

Just in case it is unclear to you in any way, the QUICK part of these grits, refers only to the cooking of them, not the cleaning up...

"What Mommy?  You were on the phone... you told me to go play..."
"I'm getting some mixed messages here... first you look surprised/mad, then you grab the camera...  I guess this was a good idea after all!"
Oh baby, how I love you...
