Today was Liv's first birthday party!
Her theme was yellow, and we did it up right!! (perhaps a little overboard, but hey- you only turn one once!!!) We had about 50 yellow balloons in the house, and served all kinds of yellow food such as bananas, yellow rice, mangos, corn, a mango salsa, corn & potato chips, vanilla pudding, lemon jello, white chocolate dipped pretzels (dyed yellow) with sprinkles, cool yellow pear/apples, pineapple, sliced yellow bell pepper & popcorn. I may be missing something... :) We also breaded our own chicken nuggets and cut up french fries to cook in the big turkey fryer in the yard. They turned out great and there was plenty of food for everyone!
The house was also decorated with three different kinds of yellow flowers, pretty paper pendants, yellow bandanas, and yellow construction hats and pom poms as part of our party favors.
For our guests, we made funfetti cupcakes (with a little yellow added) and big swirls of yellow frosting on top. Then, we rolled the frosting in a little bit of cornflake crumbs and added a yellow umbrella on the top of each one. They were so sweet. For Liv, she had a GIANT cupcake to dig into. It was huge- took two whole boxes of cake mix to make! To say she loved it, would be an understatement. As soon as we took the candle off the top, she dove face first into the cake and ate a huge mouthful of frosting! Haha! It was very cute.
If it weren't for the visitors we have in town (Heidi, Matt & Savannah), and some local friends (Nat, Rene, Ash & Joe) there's no way we could have gotten everything done! THANK YOU GUYS for all your help- you're amazing!
Liv (aka, Jillian) had lots of fun opening presents, and was EXHAUSTED when she finally got to her crib for a nap.
We are so lucky to have so many local friends (about 70 people were here!) to share our special celebrations with- it was a great day!

OH. MY. GOSH. This is so awesome. Lawrence and I keep laughing at that giant cupcake, he has decided we are totally getting one of those cake mixes for Bryson's #1. What FUN. She is the sweetest, Nancy. So awesome! :)

Ahh! It's been too long since I caught up on your blog! LOVE the post of Jillian coloring and the beautiful picture she made after your "model"...makes me excited for when Madden is old enough for me to start implementing my kinder-teaching knowledge

And LOVE Liv's party post! What a cute idea/theme! I got the biggest smile on my face when I saw that picture of her face smashing into her giant cupcake!! I can't believe she did that on her own! When I saw that pic, I thought surely you or Ryan shoved her head into the cake like that, lol. Thats what my dad always did to us when we were little and we were girly wusses about getting messy with our cakes :)

Yep, we did the cupcake this weekend and it was every bit as fun as I'd imagined it to be. THANK YOU for the awesome idea!
