Every time we wake up and there is snow covering the ground, Ryan announces- "Merry Christmas!" Which lead to our conversation this morning about how funny it would be if you had to wait to open Christmas presents until the first "REAL" snow. Cruel thought (especially since Ryan and I were both raised in the Phoenix area... we would have never gotten any presents!- lol)
Anyway- We thought it would be kinda cool to have a special present each year for kids to open when there was legitimate snow on the ground... something snow-ish (winter gear, a sled...) So, this morning, (in honor of our first 'real snow' this year) Jillian got a sparkly hat (oh-so fashionable!) and snow cone syrup. Fun stuff! I think we're going to have to continue this new little tradition!
This morning when Ryan got Jillian out of her crib the first thing he said was, "it's snowing Jillian, wanna see?" Of course she said, "Snow? Pwease Daddy- OUTSIDE!" Hence, 7:15am, baby in winter gear playing outside, followed by strawberry banana snow cone for breakfast. :) What a great day!
For a few more photos of our winter fun, click HERE. It should bring you right to a slideshow... in the top right corner, you'll see OPTIONS, where you can turn on the captions for the photos if you would like.
Happy Snow Day!

Love the hat. Is Ryan outside in a tee-shirt? Crazy people!
fancy hat!! I still can't believe you guys are eating the snow, bleh!
Thanks for the update and photos. I love the hat and the photo where she is reaching for the sky with Ryan. Also the Peanut photos!
I had to study to see where some of the photo's were taken in your yard... everything looks different in the blanket of snow.
So do you have days and days of gifts when it snows for days on end??? Or only the first day. Cute tradition. We should do something like that too, since it rarely snows in Portland. Except for this year!
Enjoy it. And you do need lots of cute hats, otherwise every snow pic looks the same. Cute but the same. (Which I realized from our days and days of snow pics at the end of December!)
Crazy documenters like us need proof that it was in fact a different day. Same hat means date stamp is in order! :) hehe.
Stay warm!
Too cute! It must be nice to have some snow over there, especially since you were "White Christmas" deprived as two kids in Arizona. I got to admit, though, I think I would take Arizona weather over this deep freeze any day of the week and twice on Sundays. This little arctic blast is the worst!
I am loving Jillian's new hat. I think your gift tradition is a great idea. I would adopt the same for Timmy, however in Kansas we would be broke buying snow gifts. Oh well, keep us updated on your snow-day traditions!
I have to mention how much Jillian is beginning to look like Marilyn at this age...
to funny!
