Recently, I was talking to Jillian about coloring nicely. I told her to think about where she was putting the colors, and what color things should really be. Well, she has taken to the idea of being more precise, but she has informed me that coloring "does not need to be how things really are unless you like them that way." So true Jillian, so true. She further pointed out that "at restaurants you can only use blue, red, yellow or green ANYWAY Mommy." You got me again, kid. -smile-
So, when she is drawing pictures, her favorite "silly thing to draw" is a blue sunshine. I'll have to take a picture and post it. Cute, cute.
Anyway- Here she is. Can you feel her focus?!
I'm sharing the photo below because of two reasons. First, holy legs. Does she look incredibly long to you? I just measured her and she's grown about a half an inch since her birthday which is not a ton, but it does explain why she is now running into the doorknob every time she goes into her room.
Second, I'm loving Jillian at this age because I can really tap into my knowledge from my days as a preschool/kindergarten teacher. Note the pictures taped on the wall? Perfect example of "modeling". Jillian and I sat down at a table with the same supplies. I started making a house/tree/clouds without saying anything to her about it. She then decided to make the picture on the left without any prompting. Awww.... Love it. (In all fairness, she did ask me if I could cut a "bubble green thing for her tree" for her, and I did. I also helped a little bit with the grass, but still- pretty cool, right?) Oh, and while I'm having a proud Mommy moment, I'll close this little brag paragraph by sharing the fact that Jillian can read 30+ words now, and is picking up more and more all the time. She's super awesome. Love her. Okay, I'm done.
See the pony on the opposite page all colored in? Go Jilli!
And, if you get tired of coloring, take a break!
